Mixed Media
Through the mixing of mediums, Sharna creates works rich in texture, depth and symbolism, reflecting the harmony, complexity and histories carried within the Caribbean identity. By incorporating materials such as thread sewn into the canvas, beads, shells, mirrors and other tactile elements, her paintings become living surfaces that embody memory, transmission and transformation.
Her practice is guided by an intuitive and automatic approach to painting, where lines emerge like memory threads. Spontaneous gestures that connect personal experiences, ancestry and emotion. Rich textures and symbolic motifs inhabit the compositions, creating visual languages that oscillate between the intimate and the collective.
Color plays a central role in her work, resonating with the intensity and energy of her surroundings. Inspired by everyday spiritual encounters, rituals and lived sensations, Sharna's paintings carry a spiritual essence that transforms ordinary moments into spaces of reflection and connection.
For Sharna painting is both an act of expression and transmission, a sharing of emotion, energy and experiences through gesture, material and ritual.
